要知道，申请美国本科，除了网申系统上的文书题目，美国各大高校通常有自己的补充文书题目（ Extra/Supplemental Essay ）。
为什么美国大学需要申请者提交附加文书？
原因很简单。本科申请者并不像研究生申请者一样具备很强的专业能力和学术背景，这导致学校很难评估学生的学术潜力，只能尽可能了解学生的综合能力，附加文书就是学校找到最契合的学生的渠道。当然，越好的大学越重视学术潜力的考察。
美本申请的附加文书根据各个大学各自的要求而不同，其中很多大学都比较常用的题目有why school为什么选择我们学校，以及why major为什么选择这个专业。另外还有很多其他五花八门的题目，例如有关于课外活动的，你的成长经历，你感兴趣的书籍，或者你喜欢的历史人物，或者你写给室友的信，甚至是列出你喜欢的书单、喜欢的歌曲、喜欢的食物等等。
附加文书代表的是一个同招生官继续交流的机会。完成主文书以后，我们也千万不要忽视附加文书的重要性，要抓住这个额外展现自己的渠道，为申请加分。
随着2022-2023申请季的到来，很多美国Top30综合大学都更新了自己的附加文书题目。不少大学的文书题目相比去年有所变动，甚至有的学校文书经历大换血，已经给大家整理汇总好了！需要可以收藏起来~
01．哥伦比亚大学
变化一：删除“课内必读书单”一题
变化二：Community一题的题干中新增对于Community的定义：公平且具备包容性；同时需要突出自身背景对个人的塑造及影响；
题目：A hallmark of the Columbia experience is being able to learn and thrive in an equitable and inclusive community with a wide range of perspectives. Tell us about an aspect of your own perspective, viewpoint or lived experience that is important to you, and describe how it has shaped the way you would learn from and contribute to Columbia’s diverse and collaborative community.
翻译：哥伦比亚大学经验的一个特点是能够在一个公平、包容、具有广泛视角的社区中学习和发展。告诉我们你自己的一个重要的角度，观点或生活经验，并描述它如何塑造了你向哥伦比亚的多元化和协作社区学习并为之做出贡献的方式。
题目：In Columbia’s admissions process, we value who you are as a unique individual, distinct from your goals and achievements. In the last words of this writing supplement, we would like you to reflect on a source of happiness. Help us get to know you further by describing the first thing that comes to mind when you consider what simply brings you joy.

02．耶鲁大学
变化一：简答题最后一题由“和&或”的概念改为开放性问题
翻译：哪些关于你的事情是你在任何申请环节都没有提到的？
变化二：必答题第一题由课程学术兴趣改为“面对反对意见的坚持和改变”
翻译：耶鲁“通过在一个有道德、相互依存且多元化的社区中自由交流想法”来实现其使命。试回想，当你与持相反观点的人就一个重要问题交换意见的时候，这段经历是如何让你改变了观点，或者强化了你坚持下去的理由？
变化三：必答题第二题对去年的题目进行了融合
翻译：试回想，当你为一个与你紧密连接的社区而努力的时候，为什么这些努力对你有意义？你可以根据自己的喜好来定义这个社区。
03．宾夕法尼亚大学
变化一：新增“感谢信”一题，但建议避免写父母、老师等老生常谈的素材，也切忌过多描述他人而喧宾夺主
题目：Write a short thank-you note to someone you have not yet thanked and would like to acknowledge. (We encourage you to share this note with that person, if possible, and reflect on the experience!）
翻译：写一封简短的感谢信给你尚未感谢但想感谢的人。
04．加州理工学院
变化一：文书大换血！出现了4个全新的必答题目，一起来看~
题目1：（WHY Major类）Why did you choose that area of interest?
翻译：你为什么选择这个感兴趣的领域？
题目2：（STEM探索类）At Caltech, we investigate some of the most challenging, fundamental problems in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Identify and describe two STEM-related experiences from your high school years, either in or out of the classroom, and tell us how and why they activated your curiosity. What about them made you want to learn more and explore further?

题目2：When not surveying the stars, peering through microscopes, or running through marathons of coding, Caltech students pursue an eclectic array of interests that range from speedcubing to participating in varsity athletics to reading romance novels. What is a favorite interest or hobby and why does it bring you joy?

05．达特茅斯学院
变化一：原6选1题目中的“个人介绍”升级为必答题目
题目：“Be yourself,” Oscar Wilde advised. “Everyone else is taken.” Introduce yourself in 200-250 words.

06．范德堡大学
变化一：今年题目变为2选1，强调Community Engagement，其中第一题沿用去年的“活动描述”，第二题则新增“分歧反思”的话题，无论选择哪一个都要侧重于事件对自己的影响和个性塑造

变化二：选答题大换血！原3选1的题目变为4选1，主要考察个人背景、信仰对学生的塑造和影响，同时考察问题解决能力和反思能力。对学生的故事选材与逻辑思考能力有较高的要求。
题目和翻译：
1.People in the Notre Dame community come from many different places, backgrounds, and walks of life. How is where you’re from a part of who you are?

变化一：两个学院的必答题改变，字数要求从250词缩减到100词

变化一：删除去年3选1的题目，只保留了WHY Major文书

10．纽约大学
变化一：取消必答的Why NYU文书，改为选答的Community类文书；字数要求也从400词减少到250词
